So, a little bit about me. I grew up in Salinas, California (it is where your lettuce comes from). I was homeschooled K-12th grade, and attended Hartnell Community College for a semester and a half before opting to attend the Association Free Lutheran Bible School in Plymouth, Minnesota (it was named the #1 town in America in 2008; I'm still not sure why), where I had many adventures, including (but not limited to) touring the Midwest in a women's quartet known as "Little Women" (I was Meg), touring the East Coast in a concert choir. I graduated in May 2009, and returned to California to be in a friend's wedding, and planned on returning to Minnesota two weeks later.
For reasons that don't need exploring at the juncture, I chose to stay for the foreseeable future, and I'm back at Hartnell for now. I'm working on finishing my Associates (AFLBS gives me a Certificate in Bible Studies and 60 transferable credits to about 50 different Christian colleges across the globe, but obviously this does not include crap-hole community colleges), which is difficult because I have changed my major three times so far (english --> psychology --> music --> contemplating English again, because it's easier to accomplish quickly). I have no long-term plans at the moment (God is very monosyllabic at the moment; I am certain I'm supposed to be here, but I don't know much beyond the fact that finals are in a month) but plan on getting my Bachelor's in Vocal Performance, and minoring in opera, because it's fun.
I have pipe dreams of going on to the Met, but I'm pretty sure I will end up teaching music lessons ala Marian the Librarian. Which is fun, too, because that can pay between $15-45 an hour.
Uhm... yeah. In case it wasn't clear, I'm Christian :) I grew up in a Lutheran home attending a Lutheran church; I had the awesome opportunities to go and work at churches in the Mexicalli Valley over spring break on four separate occasions. While in Minnesota, I led a junior high girls' small group at Faith Lutheran Church in Shakopee for a year.
I've had a lot of exciting jobs over the years: I worked for a year in a dermatologist's office (alphabetising), another year or so at a drive-thru coffee shop (amazing; and great tips!), and for four or five years I served as the childcare provider at my church ($10/hr to watch children during church services, bible studies, etc; it was great). My favourite and most enjoyable job was working as an assistant photographer to the lovely Diana Ralph. I manned the slave flash and reflectors during studio shots, and during weddings, while she was busy taking the official posed portraits, I ran around taking cameo shots of guests and flowers, table designs, etc.
When I moved to Minnesota, I worked in Seattle's Best Cafe in Borders Bookstore for 2 1/2 years. It was the best job I ever had; I highly recommend it. Borders Bookstore has amazing benefits for even their part-time employees, including health care, college opportunities, a book-loan program (you can "check" books out of the store... for free!), and a sweet 33% discount off merchandise. Go for it, and tell them I sent you!

I also worked at Target for a brief stint when I returned to Salinas. This did not last long, and is detailed on RHU here. Note: I do not use inappropriate language very much in real life, and I had no choice in the title given to my article, and I apologise for it. =/
So yeah. That's me. Any questions? Just ask. =)
